Thesis title: Conceptual museological planning and design of an exhibition of the Byron Mitos’ photographic collection

Based on a real project, this thesis is a conceptual museological study regarding the planning and design of a temporary exhibition of the Byron Mitos’ photographic collection. This collection consists of photographs by German soldiers, who have captured faces and locations in Thessaloniki during the German occupation period (1941-1944). The proposed concept is expressed through references to the Theory of Photography and follows principally historic and anthropological orientation. This thesis has a tiered structure and consists of the following stages: a) museological identification, where all the basic data of the project is quoted, b) museological planning, where data is analyzed and key directions towards problem solution are put and c) museological design, where a specific solution-proposal on the exhibition is described. This issue is one half of a partnership that includes conceptual and architectural planning and design. The spatial rendering of everything that is developed in the main body of this thesis is found on the issue edited by the fellow architect Michael Dolianitis.
