“Cultural Routes – Proposal for a Literary Trail in Thessaloniki…”

Abstract

The subject of  my postgraduate dissertation thesis is the theoretical analysis/context and documentation of cultural routes as an important part of cultural heritage management and a proposal for a literary trail in Thessaloniki. The thesis aims to promote and highlight the cultural routes a viable approach of cultural heritage both in economic and interpretive terms. The core of the proposal is the life and work of Chronis Missios, and its aim is the re-appropriation of the city by its residents by opening them a window into the city’s past while offering connection points, both conceptual and material, with their own present. The first part presents the origins, the evolution and the typology of cultural routes as well as the fundamental concepts of communication, authenticity and pedagogy in literary tourism. The second part presents the museological programming and conceptual design in a preliminary phase.
