Thesis title: Educational Kit project for the Museum-Library Stratis Eleftheriadis-Tériade in Lesvos
Purpose of this thesis is the design of a portable educational suitcasefor Stratis Eleftheriadis-TériadeMuseum, which is locatedin Varia, Mytilene. This is going to be an educational suitcase which potentially can “travel” anywhere, without requiring physical presence in the museum and is aimed at child audiences at the age of elementary education stage. By this educational proposal is pursued firstly the acquaintance of the public with one of the most distinguished art critics, publishers of artistic forms and collectors of 20th century in Europe, Stratis Eleftheriadis-Tériade, and with his rich editorial work. Moreover is attempted the critical approach of multiple expressive and communication capabilities of the technique of printing, as shown by the use of the namesake collection. The work is divided into two parts, the theoretical part and analytical design.The first part clarify the educational role of the museumbased on a theoretical basis, as regards the evolution of the term “museum education” in the international and Greek reality, the theoretical learning context, non-formal education practices and examples of equivalent lending material. Then, a theoretical depiction of interpretative material culture approaches is attempted focusing on art, educational extensions targeting promotion of aesthetic and cultural education, and broad interdisciplinary approaches. Afterwards the theoretical interest is focused on Tériademuseum, concerning the action of the issuer-art critic Stratis Eleftheriadis-Tériade, the collection of the namesake museum and the re-opening project. In the second part of the work all design fields of the proposed educational suitcase are presented in detail, as the title, the educational exhibition grounds, the target group, the general objective and specific objectives, methodology, implementation duration and the detailed description of the educational structure material. Then follows a brief reference to pedagogical benefits and proposals of extension and in the annex provided all supporting material of educational suitcase.
