Thesis title: The challenging task of planning a European History Museum: new readings and multiple interpretations of history

The purpose of this thesis is to uncover the challenging task of planning a European History museum; the new readings and multiple interpretations of history, on the occasion of the “birth” of a museum to, as they say, the heart of Europe, Brussels. How manageable can concepts such as history, memory, historical consciousness and European identity can be in the context of a museum, an institution that is constantly changing and transforming since its appearance from the 19th century? How political fermentations after the World War II and especially after the fall of the Berlin Wall (1989), formed practices to create a unified European identity, which will also be displayed by museum exhibitions. Political fermentations and the vision for European expansion created great expectations, a vision for financial integration and free movement of goods, ideas and people within the European Union, an economic giant with diverse elements and hardly manageable members after national and civil wars.
