Thesis title: The international cultural action of Women in Blach (Serbia): the exhibition”Always disobedient-We leave a trace”. 20 years of Women in Black

The aim of the present thesis was the study of the cultural action of the activist, anti-fascist, feminist but above all anti-war group Women in Black (Serbia) and the analysis of the exhibition “Always Disobedient – We leave a trace” 20 years of Women in Black that was organized for the 20 years since the formation of the group. After fieldwork was done in Belgrade and interviews were conducted with members of Women in Black and the director of the Center for Cultural Decontamination, where the exhibition took place, the collected material was analyzed and interpreted through a theoretical basis related to the phenomenon of denial of memory and the anti-denial, alternative voices and civic opposition of the ’90s in Serbia, contamination and decontamination. The analysis of the exhibition “Always Disobedient – We leave a trace”20 years of Women in Black is based on the analytical tools of Museology after giving the context of the creation and the action of the group throughout the 20 years, i.e. through which sociopolitical conditions and zymosis it occurred and how it interacted with them. Lastly, two public performances “Srebrenica: 20 years” and Look at Yourself Serbia! 20 Years – 20 Mirrors are outlined and analyzed as performative silence-breaker actions.
