Thesis title: Conceptual and museological planning of the Folklore Museumin Livadi of Elassona
The aim of this thesis is to propose the planning and the establishment of a Folklife Museum in Livadi, Olympus, area of Elassona. In the first place, we set the basic concept of the museum, so that the terms Vlachs, Olympus Vlachs, Livadi, etc, can be understood. We discussed the local history of both the area and its people, and then we unfolded not only the planning but also the design of the museum, in order to focus on the wealth of Folk artefacts of the region. This is the writer’s proposal for a contemporary and complete organisation of the museum building, ready to accommodate and display a collection of locals’ objects of everyday use. Finally, we proposed a special planning for certain supplementary spaces of the museum, the cafeteria and the gift shop.
