Abstract
The following dissertation describes the process of exhibition design in the Louvre museum by looking at the stages of exhibition making, and at the nature of the context in which those involved work. The beginning point is the exhibition «Chypre entre Byzance et l’Occident, IV-XVIe siècle». How are decisions about exhibitions made and who or what really makes them? The problematic begins with the description of the historical, institutional and administrative frame of the museum. Through the evolution and the design process of this particular exhibition the story of multiple hopes and ambitions of those involved will be told.
